   7 Mistpark introduces a new generation of social networks. Mistpark Server
   8 allows you to interact with other members of the Mistpark community using
   9 the DFRN (Distributed Friends and Relations Network) protocol. Other networks
  10 (such as Diaspora, OneSocialWeb, status.net, etc.) will be supported in the
  11 future as their products mature and protocol and privacy/rights issues are
  12 resolved between these networks.

  14 It's your network now. If social networking isn't what you thought it would
  15 be, help us to make it better.

  17 A single instance of Mistpark Server supports up to several hundred people
  18 using commodity hosting hardware. Each of these people can connect with any
  19 other mistpark/DFRN cell anywhere in the world and share photos, links,
  20 status updates, whatever. Also available from Mistpark Labs is
  21 Mistpark Personal Edition, which supports a single user.

  23 Mistpark may also be closed off from the global community and used to support
  24 social networking amongst corporate, educational, religious, and other private
  25 communities. This makes it an excellent choice for providing a safe social
  26 networking environment to young teenagers, as opposed to (for instance)
  27 Facebook.

  29 Every user has unlimited profiles available. There is a "public profile" which
  30 can be seen by anybody. Additional profiles may be tailored to specific
  31 groups or individuals - and shown when a known friend visits your site.

  33 Groups may be setup for closed conversations (like Diaspora's "aspects"). In
  34 this way your conversations with drinking buddies may be kept separate from
  35 conversations with co-workers (for instance).

  41 evaluating wiki, forum, and bug-tracking software for use on the project.
