   5 open-source project.  We appreciate you taking a look, and we hope
   6 that you will find FlightGear interesting, useful, and educational.
   7 We realize that not everyone is a developer, but we'd love to have you
   8 contribute to our project with any skills you might have, such as
   9 graphics design, 3d modeling, audio, debugging/testing, aircraft
  10 building, real aviation experience, web page design, and yes software
  11 development too. :-)

  17 FlightGear has an install shield type installer.  After you have
  18 installed the base system, you will find a "scenery management" tool
  19 in the FlightGear section of the start menu.  You can use this tool to
  20 easily install and remove add on scenery chunks from the CD or that
  21 you download from the FlightGear.org website.

  27 Just select FlightGear from the start menu or click on the desktop
  28 icon (if you opted to install one.)  This brings up a launcher where
  29 you can select your aircraft, starting location, and a myriad of
  30 additional options.

  33 Installing Scenery

  36 FlightGear comes with only a very small section of scenery surrounding
  37 the San Francisco Bay area.  You can download detailed world scenery
  38 from the main FlightGear web site or purchase the same data as a 3 DVD
  39 set.  If you are installing FlightGear from the official CD, it will
  40 include several additional areas which you can install

  42 To install scenery that you have downloaded or purchased, run the
  43 "Install & Uninstall Scenery" tool from the "FlightGear" section of
  44 your "Start" menu.  You may have to select the location of your
  45 scenery packages, but it will automatically know the correct install
  46 location.

  49 Installing Aircraft

  52 FlightGear comes with a variety of aircraft, but many more are
  53 available to download and fly.  To install new aircraft, first go the
  54 FlightGear web site and download the new aircraft to your local hard
  55 drive.  Then extract the aircraft_version.tgz file into your
  56 C:\Program Files\FlightGear\data\Aircraft\ folder.  Your new aircraft
  57 will be available to fly the next time you start FlightGear.  Don't
  58 forget to check inside the new aircraft folder for any readme's or
  59 operational tips from the authors.  Many aircraft have custom keyboard
  60 inputs or require special steps to operate.
